Biography
Tasteful nu-groove and trip-hop soul producer Charles Webster emigrated from Britain to the United States after working with American techno mavericks including Juan Atkins and Derrick May. The producer, engineer and recording artist has worked with R&S and Hardkiss, but gained fame with his Love from San Francisco label. Webster's acid-inspired productions as Presence ("My Baby," "A Better Day," "Sense of Danger") became deep house standards, though more respected in Britain than America. A Love from San Francisco compilation was released in 1995, though Presence's debut full-length didn't appear until 1999. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
