Presidential Standard

Wikipedia: Presidential Standard (Ireland)
The Irish Presidential Standard, a flag] used by President of Ireland since 1945, shows a golden Cláirseach (Gaelic harp) with silver strings on a background of St. Patrick's Blue.

The Presidential Standard is the flag of the President of Ireland. It was instituted on February 13, 1945.[citation needed]

Its design consists of a golden Cláirseach (Gaelic harp) with silver strings on a background of St. Patrick's Blue. The design is the same, except for shape, as the Coat of Arms of Ireland.

The standard is flown over Áras an Uachtaráin, the official presidential residence in Dublin.[citation needed] It is also flown at Dublin Castle when the President is in residence and on vehicles used by the President.[citation needed]

As with other presidential and Royal Standards, it is never flown at half mast.[citation needed] The Presidential Standard never takes precedence over the flag of Ireland,[citation needed] whereas, for example, the Royal Standard takes precedence over the Flag of the United Kingdom.[citation needed]
