pressure homogenization

or nitrogen cavitation

a method of disrupting cells that depends on equilibrating a cell suspension with a gas, e.g. nitrogen, at high pressure (up to 7 MPa) and then suddenly reducing the pressure, whereupon the gas dissolved in the cytoplasm is explosively released.
