Pride of Pawnee

Plot

In this silent Tom Tyler western, a Wells Fargo agent learns that his romantic rival, a supposedly stolid citizen, is in reality the leader of an outlaw gang known as "The Wolves." Unbeknownst to the miner's organization of which he is the head, George La Forte (Jack Hilliard) is behind a series of crimes against the stage line. Dressed as Indians, La Forte's renegades raid the coach carrying Madge Wilson (Ethlyne Clair) and her young brother (Frankie Darro). La Forte falls for the girl and does everything in his power to keep her -- and his own secret identity -- out of reach for stagecoach agent Kirk Stockton (Tyler). When the girl continues to demur, La Forte kidnaps Stockton and forces Mary to accept his proposal of marriage. The stalwart Kirk manages to free himself and arrives just in time to stop the unholy union. This was one in a series of Tyler westerns to team the strapping actor with diminutive boy actor Frankie Darro (later Darrow). ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
