14-digit or 16-digit numeric code embossed on the face side of a bank card, and also encoded in the Magnetic Stripe. The primary account number is a composite number containing: the Major Industry Identifier of the card issuer; an individual account identifier, which includes part of the account number; and a Check Digit or code that verifies the authenticity of the embossed account number.
