PrimeTel[1] is a private Cypriot telecommunications carrier. Through their partnership with Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), they have built their own fiber-optic network and ADSL2+ platform.[2] PrimeTel entered the Cypriot retail market in 2006 with a triple-play Internet, IPTV and telephony offering under the PrimeHome brand.[3]
Since November 2007, NOVA Cyprus is also available via PrimeTV IPTV service of PrimeTel.[4]
In June 2011, PrimeTel announced the launch of its submarine fiber cable landing station in Geroskipou and that Reliance Globalcom had terminated its 2.7 terabit HAWK submarine cable system into it .[5] This makes PrimeTel the first private operator with such facilities, which traditionally have been a monopoly of CYTA.[6]
In May 2011, PrimeTel launched the first MVNO in Cyprus, making it the third cellphone operator on the island. It uses the network of the partially state-owned CYTA and is working under the prefix 95.
