Plot

Thomas Meighan achieved star billing with this charming romantic feature, based on the play by Edward Peple. Sculptor William Peyton (Meighan) leaves America for London in his search for success. He leaves his fiancée, Alice (Kathlyn Williams), back home and promises to send for her when he can. In the meantime, he rooms with a group of other artists in very humble quarters. A woman he has befriended dies and makes him promise to take care of her four-year-old daughter, Claudia (Peaches Jackson). Alice's suspicious aunt (Lillian Leighton) thinks that Claudia is really Peyton's child, and Alice travels to London to investigate. She meets Claudia, who immediately recognizes her as the "princess" in the stories that Peyton tells her. Because of things the little girl says, Alice believes her fears have been confirmed and she tells Peyton to choose between her and the child. Peyton chooses Claudia and Alice marries someone else. Years pass, and Peyton finally achieves fame and fortune. Claudia turns 18 (played by Lila Lee) and it becomes clear that she has fallen in love with Peyton. Alice, who has been widowed, comes back into Peyton's life. Once more he has to choose, and once again he picks Claudia. ~ Janiss Garza, Rovi
