Marketing Dictionary: professional services marketing

Marketing of advisory services offered by practitioners such as doctors, lawyers, or accountants. Professional services marketing is relatively new to the marketing industry, because until recently the professional associations governing each of these professions prohibited client solicitation, advertising, and price competition. In the early 1980s the U.S. Antitrust Division ruled that restraints such as those imposed by the professional trade associations were illegal.
