Proton Synchrotron Booster
The Proton Synchrotron Booster is the first and smallest proton circular accelerator in the CERN Large Hadron Collider injection complex.[1] It takes 50MeV protons from the linear accelerator Linac2 and accelerates them up to 1.4GeV, ready to be fed into the Proton Synchrotron. It can also take ions from the Linac3. The PS Booster actually consists of four identical rings mounted one above the other. Pictures and layout can be found at [2]. This machine is almost as old as CERN, in 1959 it was already providing protons to the Proton Synchrotron.
