| 1766 | The Providence Gazette. After the departure from Providence of her son William in 1765, Sarah Updike Goddard (c. 1700-1770), now a widow in her sixties, manages the city's first print shop alone and decides to revive the Gazette, which had failed during her son's first attempt in 1762.
