The forward portion of either of the hipbones, at the juncture forming the front arch of the pelvis. Also called pubic bone.

[Short for New Latin (os) pūbis, (bone) of the groin, from genitive of Latin pūbēs, groin.]

The two bones making up the anterioventral part of the pelvis. In adults, the bones fuse at the pubic symphysis. See also coxal bones.

Pl. pubes [L.] the bone beneath the human pubis (pubic hair) and its homolog in other animals; the cranioventral part of the pelvic girdle. Called also pubic bone.
