A weight-training system in which loads are increased successively in each set while the number of repetitions in a set is reduced. Assuming a 2-RM (see repetition maximum) of 45 kg, a typical session might consist of:

seven repetitions at 20 kg
six repetitions at 25 kg
five repetitions at 30 kg
four repetitions at 35 kg
three repetitions at 40 kg
two repetitions at 45 kg.
