The series about Pyrus is a julekalender (eng. Christmas Calendar) sended on the Danish television station TV2 at Christmas time in Denmark.
The series is about Pyrus who is a nisse who lives under the National Archives of Denmark together with to other nisser called Kandis and Gyldengrød. Gyldengrød is the nissearchevist and Pyrus and Kandis are his two trainees. The human archevist is called Birger Bertramsen and he also have a trainee, a young woman called Josefine Brahe. Bertramsen and Brahe is not only colleagues; they are also related to each other as father and daughter. The julekalender is about the History of Denmark and the humans and the nisser are studying the History of Denmark on to different ways. The nisser can with magic conjure inside history books and gathers information from the historical persons inside the book.
The series contains four different tellings about Pyrus and his friend. The first one from 1994 was called Alletiders Jul, (Great Christmas) followed by Alletiders Nisse, (Great Nisse), 1995, Alleiders Julemand, (Great Santa Claus), 1997 and Alletiders Eventyr, (Great Fairytale), 2000.
Pyrus; a young, undisciplined and lazy nisse boy, is going to be Gyldengrød's trainee for a year on the National Archives of Denmark but the only thing that Pyrus cares about is where he's going to sleep and when he's going to eat. Gyldengrød; an old and very intelligent nisse tries to get Pyrus a little more into the History of Denmark, but Pyrus think it's the most boring thing on Earth. One day Gyldengrød leave Pyrus alone in the little cavern without taking his magical book with him. Pyrus gets curios and tries to do some magic, because he'll make Gyldengrød proud. But Pyrus is always very unlucky and suddenly a big earthquake came and in all the mess he finds a girl who doesn't know who she is. The next day Gyldengrød finds out that the problem is much bigger than first thought because Christmas has disappeared. Nobody knows what Christmas is except from Gyldengrød and Pyrus. Through 24 episodes Gyldengrød, Pyrus and the girl are looking after Christmas in the History of Denmark and in the end they discover that the girl they found in the mess who they gave the name Freya actually is the Goddess of Christmas. The Christmas is back and it became a Great Christmas!
Alletiders Jul were broadcast on TV2 in 1994 and again in 2004
Pyrus just got home from the nisse university, thinking that he's just going to relax through the whole vacation. But he's wrong. Gyldengrød tells him that every nisse who's educating has to make a written paper about a topic in the vacation. Pyrus is also going to do this. His topic is called "Hvad er en nisse?" (eng. What is a nisse?). Pyrus is going to make the written paper together with one of his class mates; a sweet and very clever nissegirl called Kandis. Kandis and Pyrus is going to tell about what a nisse was in the old days, what a nisse is today, what it would be in the future, what nisser is of importance for human, when human started to believe in nisser and everything like that. Through 24 episode Pyrus and Kandis travels into the fictional books etc. fairytales, fables, children's books and any literature which tells something about nisser. In the human world, the National Archives of Denmark is going to be torn down, and all the national history is going to be removed to EDP. An EDP-expert called Uffe Andersen is going to work on the National Archives of Denmark and his job is to transfer every literal stuff from the archives in to the computer. Bertramsen and Josefine will try to convince the government not to tear down the Archives by prove something you can't prove by searching on the internet. They will prove that nisser exists! Through 24 episodes Bertramsen an Josefine reads everything about nisser, but nobody has ever seen a nisse before so they can't really prove anything. But one day, without knowing, Bertramsen locks Kandis inside a closet. The only way Pyrus and Gyldengrød can rescue Kandis is by telling it to the humans and then break the law by showing them selves for the humans. The humans have proved that nisser exist, the archives doesn't get teared down an everybody's happy!
