Qingdao Metro (Chinese: 青岛地铁) is a metro system under construction as of 2009 in the city of Qingdao, Shandong province in China.
The construction of the first line, Line M3, started on November 30th, 2009. With 13 billion yuan ($1.9 billion) of funding, it is expected to be completed in 2014 with a total of 22 stations, a total length of 25.1 km and a daily ridership of 235,000 passengers.[1]
Next to be completed will be Line M2, which will have 27 stations and be 29.6 km long, and is currently expected to be finished around 2016-2017. A further line, Line M1, is due to be completed around 2020.
According to the published plans, ultimately there will be 5 lines in total with a combined length of 231.5 km. All work is scheduled to be finished prior to 2050.
