The Qingjiang (Chinese: 清江; pinyin: Qīngjiāng) is a tributary of the Yangtze River.[1] It is 423 kilometers long.[2] Its drainage area is 17,000 km².[3] The Qingjiang empties into the Yangtze at the ancient city of Yichang.[4]
The Qingjiang has three large dams on it, the Geheyan, Gaobazhou, and Shuibuya.[2] The Geheyan dam has a ship lift that can lift vessels of up to 300 tons displacement.
During the 1998 Yangtze flood the dam effectively held back the Qingjiang's flow.[1]
