qmake is a computer program that automates the generation of Makefiles. Makefiles are used by the program Make to compile software from source code, therefore qmake is a make-makefile tool, or makemake for short.
qmake has been created by Trolltech, and is distributed along with the Qt toolkit. As qmake has been written primarily for internal use, its documentation has received much less attention than the documentation of Qt.
