In order to help you fight the good fight, eight weapons are available within the game: an axe, shotgun, double-barreled shotgun, nailgun, super nailgun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher and thunderbolt. Players must also keep a watchful eye on their ammo, although four types of crates will assist in keeping weapons at full capacity. Also available are health kits, biosuits (to breathe underwater), three types of armor, the Ring of Shadows (invisibility), Pentagram of Protection (temporary invulnerability) and Quad Damage (four times the firepower). These power-ups may prove useful in surviving the hazards found on each stage.
Players must learn to deal with water, slime, lava, crushing walls, spikes, radioactive containers and other forms of dangers as they advance through the 25 levels in the game. Want to take a break? You'll either receive a password or have the opportunity to save progress with a Controller Pak after each map. The

Roots & Influences
Quake first originated on the PC in 1996, essentially serving as id Software's 3D follow-up to Doom. The title soon enjoyed widespread success due to its multi-player feature, allowing up to 32 players to compete at once, and flexibility in its design, which meant players could modify the game.
