The fabless apple doesn't fall far from the wireless tree. QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (QCT), founded as a division of QUALCOMM in 1995, designs integrated circuits (ICs) and software for wireless communications equipment based on the CDMA standard. QUALCOMM pioneered the use of CDMA in commercial wireless applications and is the leading supplier of CDMA chipsets. Its products include baseband, radio-frequency, and power amplification chips. In 2006 QCT's parent bolstered the unit's product portfolio by acquiring Airgo Networks, a developer of wireless networking chips using the popular Wi-Fi standard, and most of the Bluetooth assets of RF Micro Devices.
