Qualitätswein

[kvah-lih-TAYTS-vine] Term used for "quality wine" in Germany and Austria. Qualitätswein is the middle wine-quality level, above tafelwein and landwein. In Germany Qualitätswein is further divided into qualitätswein bestimmter anbaugebiet (QbA) and qualitätswein mit prädikat (QmP). In Austria, Qualitätswein includes a subcategory called kabinett which in Germany is in the higher Qualitätswein Mit Prädikat category. Austria's highest general category is prädikatswein which is similar to the German Qualitätswein Mit Prädikat.
