Queen Elizabeth II Stakes
The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1 mile at Ascot Racecourse in late September.
It was first run in 1955 and was given Group 2 status when the pattern system was introduced in 1971. This was upgraded to Group 1 in 1987.
In 1966, the race was won by Hill Rise, an American horse who had raced successfully in the U.S.
