Review
Italian blowhard Gianni Morandi delivers another campy classic in Questa È la Storia: Scende la Pioggia, a bizarre collection of his music. Coming off like an Italian Tom Jones, Morandi manages to stretch his thin voice into some wonderfully overblown arrangements. Covers of 60's pop tracks, brash pop songs of his own, they are all included on this fun and harmless album. The best part is how recognizable so many of the tracks are, it is a genuine thrill to hear the lounge-meets-big band arrangement of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" or the Meatloaf-esque treatment of "Com'è Grande Luniverso." The admirable lack of smarmy arrangements helps this become one of the best albums in his collection, and a high recommendation for fans of this era in Italian pop. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi| Questa e La Storia: Andavo a Cento All'ora (1995 Album by Gianni Morandi) | |
