Review

The best of the Chi-town-based soul man on 14 songs produced by Leo Graham and Paul Richmond. Cry along as Davis wails on "Heart Failure," experience the drama of "Be Honest With Me," feel his optimism as he tries to pull on "Let Me Be Your Pacifier," and snap along with his big-booming chart-busters: the horn-driven "Turn Back the Hands of Time" and the shuffling "Can I Change My Mind." Tyrone Davis is one of R&B's best-kept secrets. He had some big pop hits, but you wonder if the lofty rungs they achieved were true crossover appeal or if more than the normal number of soul music fans purchased the singles. Davis' name is rarely bandied about in regards to the hall of fame (rock or R&B), though his credentials are better than many already inducted. (Did somebody say Bo Diddley?) ~ Andrew Hamilton, Rovi
