Quirinus Gerbrandszoon van Blankenburg

(b Gouda, 1654; d The Hague, 12 May 1739). Netherlands composer and theorist. Organist at churches in Rotterdam, Gorinchem and The Hague, he was an expert on carillon and organ building. His printed music, for keyboard, includes a book (1732) of ornamented versions of 16th-century Dutch Protestant hymns and psalms. Three MSS contain vocal and harpsichord pieces, some of them arrangements; he also wrote a thoroughbass treatise, Elementa musica (1739).
