"Quality, value, and convenience," better known as QVC, the Shopping Channel, is famous for its diversity of weird and wonderful objects sold by celebrities such as Joan Rivers and Marie Osmond, over both the telly and the Internet. Launched in 1993 in the UK, QVC UK's TV announcers reveal and demonstrate everything from fluffy toys and collectors' knives to jewelry and fashion. About 15,000 products come from such manufacturers as Panasonic, Hush Puppies, Canon, Birkenstock, and Samsung reaching more than 19 million cable and satellite homes throughout England, Ireland, and Scotland. In 2004 its US parent QVC Inc. bought out the minority stake of QVC UK from its former partner British Sky Broadcasting Group.
