Rachel Maycock was born in Llanfechain, Montgomeryshire in 1981. She was educated at Ysgol Uwchradd Llanfyllin High School and Warwick University, where she graduated from in 2003 with a degree in Politics.
She worked in the European Parliament for an MEP, and then worked for the European Parliamentary Labour Party. She worked in Number 10 Downing Street for the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown on European affairs and links with Members of the European Parliament until 2009.
In 2007, she was a candidate for the National Assembly for Wales for the Wales Labour Party in her home constituency of Montgomeryshire and she was number 3 on the Wales Labour Party list in the June 2009 elections for the European Parliament. She currently works for Harriet Harman
Rachel Maycock is a member of the GMB union and Unite the union.
