Review

Abandoning the acoustic approach of This Strange Engine, Marillion turns back toward the heavier sound of Afraid of Sunlight. Arguably influenced by Radiohead's 1997 album OK Computer, the album also shows a Beatles sound that lends more of a pop flavor than the band had shown before. "Answering Machine," "These Chains" and "Under the Sun" are appealing tracks, while "Three Minute Boy," yet another Marillion examination of the impact of fame, contains some of Steve Rothery's best guitar work in years. The American release includes two bonus tracks, reworkings of "Estonia" and "Memory of Water" from This Strange Engine. ~ Dale Jensen, Rovi

Radiation is the tenth studio album by British rock band Marillion, released in 1998. It reached #35 on the UK Albums Chart and stayed there for one week.[3] The only single released from Radiation is "These Chains". It failed to chart in the UK.[3]

Due to an announcement on Marillion's official website before the album's release, many suppliers and distributors have incorrectly listed the album's title as either "Don't Try This at Home" or "Radiation Leak".[4] As Marillion's tenth studio album, the number 10 can be seen in the "io" in both "marillion" and "radiation" on the cover.

The US release of Radiation (on the Velvel label) contains the bonus tracks "Estonia (Acoustic)" and "Memory of Water (Big Beat Mix)".

The Japanese release of Radiation (on the Pony Canyon label) contains the bonus tracks "The Space (Live Acoustic)" and "Fake Plastic Trees (Live Acoustic)", both taken from the Racket Records album Unplugged at the Walls.

According to Marillion's official website, the album will be remixed and remastered in early 2013.
