Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) is an Afghanistan broadcasting organization. This governmental organ has one national TV station (Afghanistan National Television) and one radio station (Radio Afghanistan). There are sister channels in major cities such as Herat TV and Balkh TV.
Radio Television of Afghanistan started with Radio Kabul in 1304 (1925 CE), during the era of King Amanullah Khan, two radio transmitters with the capacity of 400 watt were procured from the German company of Telephonkan, one of those has been installed on Koti Londoni near the bridge of Artel which subsequently started to its operation and the second one had been transferred to Kandahar which on that period the musical programs and news were only being broadcast for few hours.
RTA TV is the main worldwide television channel, launched in 1974.
