Railway on the Ice Sea

Plot

Described by Gaumont as a "panoramic display," Railway on the Ice Sea was released on the same reel as Decorated by the Emperor. Many of the scenes in this film were taken from an elevation of 6,000 feet, adding a dash of excitement to an otherwise prosaic effort. While buildings and pedestrians were rather out of focus, the surrounding mountains were brought to the screen with crystal clarity. Evidently, two cameramen worked on the film, shooting from both the front and back of a moving train. For purely historical reasons, this film would be well worth rediscovering. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
