The Rainbow Film Festival - Shropshire Lesbian and Gay Film Festival takes place every year in Shrewsbury, in the county of Shropshire, England and will celebrate its sixth birthday in 2011. Organised completely by volunteers, the event features films with a lesbian and gay context from around the world. The festival venue has so far been at the Old Market Hall.

The festival first began in 2006 [1] with screenings of Rent, The Journey, Calamity Jane (Singalong), Priest, Fried Green Tomatoes, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Beautiful Thing.
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act and the 50th anniversary of the Wolfenden Report the second festival featured Prick Up Your Ears, Cabaret, The Hunger, Rag Tag, Bound, The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros, Nina's Heavenly Delights and The Picture of Dorian Gray.
The third Rainbow Film Festival featured: Brokeback Mountain, West Side Story, But I'm a Cheerleader, XXY, Rainbow's End, Fire and The History Boys.
The fourth Rainbow Film Festival featured: The Times of Harvey Milk, Itty Bitty Titty Committee, My Beautiful Laundrette, A Love to Hide, Pedro, I Can't Think Straight and Hard Pill.
The fifth Rainbow Film Festival featured: Kinky Boots, For My Wife (UK premiere), Edie & Thea: a very long engagement, Goldfish Memory, Eyes Wide Open, C.R.A.Z.Y, The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls and My Brother…Nikhil.
