Ralph Lemon

Lemon, Ralph (b Minnesota, 1953). US dancer and choreographer. He studied at the University of Minnesota and with Nancy Hauser, dancing with her company (1977-9). He moved to New York and danced with various companies including Meredith Monk's (1979-81) and in 1981 presented his first concert of work. He founded his own company in 1985 for which he has choreographed many works including Persephone (mus. Davis, 1991). His works have also been performed by other companies including Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble (Folkdance, 1998) and Lyons Opera Ballet (My Tears Have Been My Meat Night and Day, 1994). In 1995 he disbanded his company to pursue multi-disciplinary projects—such as the ongoing trilogy Geography.
