Biography

Country singer and songwriter Randy Houser was born and raised in Lake, MS, where his love of music was apparent even as a young child. He started fronting bands when he was around 13 years old and continued playing local gigs all the way through high school. While attending East Central Community College he realized playing music had its financial rewards as well, and he began working on his songwriting. He also formed 10lb. Biscuit, and the band was quite well received on the local circuit. Houser relocated to Nashville, TN, in 2002 and landed a song publishing deal. One of his songs, "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," became a big hit for Trace Adkins in 2005. Houser began concentrating more on the performing side of things and started playing more local gigs, which eventually led to a record deal with Universal Records South. The label released his debut single, "Anything Goes," written by Brice Long and John Wayne Wiggins, in May of 2008, followed later in the year by a debut album, Anything Goes. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide

Biography

Randy Houser was born in Lake, Mississippi. His father, a professional musician as well, performed at various local venues.[2] Houser fronted his own band by age thirteen, and while attending East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi, he formed another band called 10 lb. Biscuit.[3]

By 2002, Houser moved to Nashville, Tennessee in pursuit of a songwriting career. One of his first cuts as a songwriter was "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk", which he co-wrote with Jamey Johnson and Dallas Davidson. This song was recorded by Trace Adkins on his 2005 album Songs About Me, and was a Top 5 single for him.[3] After this song's success, Houser shifted his focus to performing, and started playing at local gigs in Nashville. He was briefly signed to MCA Nashville but did not release anything on the label.[4]

Debut album: Anything Goes (2008-2009)

Houser subsequently signed to Universal South Records in 2008. His first single, "Anything Goes", was released in May of that year.[5] It was co-written by Brice Long and John Wiggins.[3] Houser performed the song on Late Show with David Letterman in August after host David Letterman heard it on a satellite radio station.[6] The song entered Top 40 on the Billboard country charts that same month. His debut album, also titled Anything Goes, was released in November, at which point the title track was in the Top 20 on the country charts. "Boots On" was released as the album's second single in February 2009, and became his first top ten hit in July 2009. Houser also co-wrote "Back That Thing Up", the debut single for Valory Music Group artist Justin Moore. This song peaked at #38 on Hot Country Songs in December 2008.

Houser received two nominations for the 2009 CMA Awards, including New Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year for his Top 5 hit "Boots On".

Second album: (2009-present)

Houser, along with Jamey Johnson and Jessie James co-wrote James' third single from her self-titled debut album, "My Cowboy". The song was released in late October 2009, and was also released as a music video.[7] Also in October 2009, Houser released his third single. The song titled "Whistlin' Dixie", is the lead-off single to Houser's second studio album for Universal South Records. It debuted at #59 on the Billboard country charts before the initial release date of November 2, 2009.
