Plot
U.S. commandos storm a Middle East terrorist compound in order to kidnap the leader of the violent sect. But the clandestine operation backfires -- perhaps because of a double-cross by one of the American operatives -- and CIA agent Vince Shannon (Glenn Plummer) is captured and abandoned by his team. The terrorists brainwash Shannon and return him to Florida where he begins slaying his former team members one by one, until he finally reaches Lt. Scott (Matt McCoy), his former best friend. But it turns out that Shannon is a decoy for a massive invasion of the U.S. by heavily armed Middle East troops that come ashore under the dark of night. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie GuideReview
You have to marvel at how much firepower prolific B-movie director Jim Wynorski, disguised in these credits as Jay Andrews, can put on the screen for the money his films cost. The finale -- which depicts a pretty convincing invasion of a Florida beach by a sizeable cast of costumed terrorists -- is worth a look despite the fact that it is the silliest plot point of a painfully silly script. Actually, the city bus vs. freight train duel may be sillier, however well-executed. It's action that Wynorski specializes in, and there's plenty of it in Rangers, although the action is often for action's sake and little else. Lethal ordnance abounds in this target-rich military/espionage adventure, and if viewer don't mind that little of what happens makes sense, this one's for them.~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide
