Ranong is a town in southern Thailand, capital of the Ranong Province and the Mueang Ranong district. The town covers completely the area of the tambon Khao Niwet (เขานิเวศน์). As of 2005 it has a population of 16,163, and has town status (thesaban mueang).

The town is located at the estuary of the Pak Chan (or Kraburi) River, opposite Myanmar's Victoria Point. Phetkasem Road (Thailand Route 4) runs through the city. The Ranong Airport is located about 24 km south of the town.

The Port Authority of Thailand operates the Port of Ranong, which is Thailand's principal Indian Ocean port.

It was also the subject of British travel journalist Rolf Potts' story "Digging Mr. Benny's Dead Uncle" which is part of a collection of travel columns called "A House Somewhere"
