Review
Contrary to what the title may lead you to believe, Rap's Greatest Disses does not consist of records that slam other rappers -- it consists of records that slam either fictional characters or namelss rappers. Once you get past that disappointment, the budget-priced collection is pretty entertaining, since these songs -- including Ice Cube's "Jackin' for Beats," EPMD's "You're a Customer," MC Shan's "Bridge," LL Cool J's "To Da Break of Dawn" and the Beastie Boys' "She's Crafty" -- contain some of the greatest lyrical trips of the '80s. The only problem is, like many Priority compilations, the disc is a little short, but it more than delivers considering its cheap price. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music GuideTracks
