This rarities compilation has lost much of its appeal since it came out, as most of the cuts have been reissued several times on various import and domestic Standells compilations. Not only that, these tracks were in general well below the standard of their best stuff, with exceptions like "Riot on Sunset Strip" and "Rari." The only reason to seek this out is the inclusion of three tracks from rare mid-'60s Vee Jay singles that are otherwise hard to come by. These are no more than okay; the cover of "Big Boss Man" is respectable, "The Boy Next Door" is co-written by Sonny Bono (who also produced), and "Don't Say Goodbye" is a limp pop tune with a mild Merseybeat influence. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi
