Ravi Kishan' (born 1971) is an Indian film actor and television personality, who works in both Hindi cinema as well as Bhojpuri cinema [1]. In 2008, he shot to popularity when he participated in Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother. There, not only did he make his name known outside the Bhojpuri community in a big way, but also, almost became a household name. [2].
He has also starred in a number of commercially successful Bhojpuri films, frequently starring opposite Nagma. He has been quoted by the BBC as saying "Bhojpuri cinema is like home-cooked food." [3]

Early life
Born Ravi Kishan Shukla, in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, in the household of a Pujari family of Pandit Shyam Narain Shukla.
Career
Ravi Kishan has been awarded as the best Bhojpuri Actor time and again. In June 2008 he was awarded the Most Popular Actor at ETV Bhojpuri Cinema Samman 2008 function. Recently he has been declared Best Actor in regional film category by Journalist Association of India in a function held at Delhi where the award was given to Ravi Shukla by Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi. This versatile actor has proved his talent of versatile acting in Bhojpuri as well as several Hindi films.
Popular reality show Big Boss and more recent Ek Se badhkar Ek have have bought him to front line of top Indian Television actors. He had to undergo a struggle in his early days when he arrived in Mumbai and presented himself to various directors and producers all in vain. Bhojpuri Cinema is now a 100 crore industry giving livelihood to nearly forty thousand people directly or indirectly.
Ravi Kishan started his own company Mahadev Production in 2008, to produce Bhojpuri Films [4]. First film of the company, Bihari Mafia has completed its shooting schedules and is now on the editing table.
In 2008, he started co-hosting, celebrity dance-based reality show Yeh Hai Jalwa (9X)[5]. He is now hosting a popular television show Bathroom Singer. He is hosting a television show in Zee TV with the name Ek se badhkar ek - Jalwe sitaron ke. A total of 16 stars will participate in this show in a total of 8 jodis (couples). Each pair will comprise one dancer and one singer. These teams will then appeal to the viewers for votes in order to win the coveted title of "Sabse Badkar Jodi".
