Raymond de Beccarie de Pavie Fourquevaux
Fourquevaux, Raymond de Beccarie de Pavie, sieur de (1508-74). French soldier and diplomat, whose correspondence and memoirs illuminate French relations with Spain and Scotland at crucial periods. He is the presumed author of an influential treatise on warfare, inspired by Vegetius and Machiavelli, Instructions sur le fait de la guerre (1548, falsely attributed to Guillaume du Bellay).
