Review

This Primo Records two-disc collection of early rockabilly may be full of mostly obvious choices, but that doesn't make it lightweight listening. There are 40 cuts here, all of them burners. They include the big and necessary inclusions such as Elvis Presley's "Baby, Let's Play House," Johnny Burnette & the Rock 'n' Roll Trio's "Tear It Up," Roy Orbison's "Rockhouse," Charlie Feathers' "Bottle to the Baby," Gene Vincent's "Be-Bop-A-Lula," and Johnny Cash's "I Walk the Line." There are also less obvious but equally killer cuts like "Rockin' with My Baby" by Malcolm Yelvington, "Hesitation Boogie" by Hardrock Gunter, Lynn Pratt's "Tom Cat," Little Jimmy Dickens' "Rock Me," and Sonny Burgess' "We Wanna Boogie." This is a great set for an amazing price if you can find it. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
