Review

This two-cut maxi-single features two remixes from Speaking in Tongues (1983): "Making Flippy Floppy" and "Slippery People." Remixed by Byrne and John "Jellybean" Benitez, the two cuts feature a standout Byrne lead vocal with suppressed backing vocals, unlike the originals. Overall, though, "Slippery People" is much like its original counterpart. "Making Flippy Floppy," on the other hand, is a bouncy, bassy mix aimed at the club/dance crowd. A bit longer than the original, the remix also has a longer instrumental closing section, and Chris Frantz's drumstick playing is rather interesting. ~ David Ross Smith, All Music Guide
