Rebecca Lobo, Basketball Player

A forward and center with a scorer's touch, Rebecca Lobo was a star of the University of Connecticut's women's basketball teams of the mid-1990s. In 1995 she led UConn to a 35-0 record and the NCAA championship. As a pro in the Women's National Basketball Association, Lobo played for the New York Liberty (1997-2001), the Houston Comets (2002, with fellow star Sheryl Swoopes) and the Connecticut Sun (2003). She was selected to play in the first-ever WNBA All Star game in 1999. After seven injury-plagued years in the WNBA, Lobo retired in September 2003.

Lobo is 6'4" tall, according to her WNBA blog... She played on the women's Olympic basketball team in 1996, winning a gold medal... She married Sports Illustrated columnist Steve Rushin on 12 April 2003. Their daughter Siobhan Rose Rushin was born on 25 December 2004.
