Recriminations
Recriminations is a mini-album by The
Toasters. The album cover art was done by Bob Fingerman.
The album
Recriminations was one of The Toasters' first demos. It was instigated by their mentor, Joe Jackson, who produced and mixed this session over the course of one weekend at Chelsea Sound's studio on New York City's Times Square. It encapsulates The Toaster's development as a guitar-based band before the introduction of a horn section and the Unity Two's "flying feet."[citation needed]
When the album was first pressed, it was not yet called "Recriminations" but simply "The Toasters." It was first released on Moon Ska Records in 1985, when that label was making vinyl only and had yet to make a CD or tape; all the catalog numbers were Toast 1, Toast 2, Toast 3, etc. for each side of a record. It was the third vinyl released by Moon Ska.
The album was released a few years later in Europe on Unicorn Records and re-pressed in the United States.
