Red River
(Chinese: Yuan Jiang; Vietnamese: Song Hong), Canada, China-Vietnam, USA
1. China-Vietnam: takes its name from the large quantity of silt it carries and which colours its waters.
2. USA: the same is true of the Red River rising in New Mexico which flows partly into the Mississippi River; it is also known as the Red River of the South. The Red River of the North rises in North Dakota and empties into Lake Winnipeg, Canada. Red River is also the name of a city in New Mexico.
