Size: 1,230 acres. Location: On the Red River in the city of East Grand Forks, 1 mile south of Highway 2. Facilities: 72 drive-in campsites (48 with full hookups), flush toilets (wheelchair access), picnic area, picnic shelter (wheelchair access), boat launch, paved multi-use trails, wheelchair accessible trail (2 miles), historic site, nature store, dining and shopping nearby. Activities: Camping, river fishing, boating, birding, hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling. Special Features: Creation of this recreation area resulted from the 1997 flood that devastated the communities of East Grand Forks, MN and Grand Forks, ND. The land is now a 1,200-acre greenway set in an urban area.

Red River State Recreation Area is part of the Greater Grand Forks Greenway and is located in the city of East Grand Forks, Minnesota on the banks of the Red River of the North and the Red Lake River. The State Recreation Area is owned and managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
