Red Robin is an American comic book ongoing series, written by Chris Yost with art by Ramon Bachs, featuring former Robin Tim Drake under the identity of Red Robin.[1] The debut of the series follows the events of Batman R.I.P., Final Crisis, and Battle for the Cowl in which the original Batman, Bruce Wayne, apparently died at the hands of DC Comics villain Darkseid. Of all the characters in the so-called "Batman Family", Drake (now using his legal name, Tim Wayne) is the only one that believes Bruce Wayne is still alive and leaves Gotham City to begin a global search for evidence supporting his theory and hope.[2]

Slated characters

DC Comics Batman line editor Mike Marts revealed characters slated to appear in Red Robin by showing his "wall" of character thumbnails underneath the various Batman titles. Characters slated to appear in Red Robin other than Tim Wayne include Gotham City reporter Vicki Vale and one of Bruce Wayne's longtime enemies Ra's al Ghul.[3]

Azrael

Red Robin is slated to tie-in indirectly to the Azrael comic coming out in October through the use of Ra's al Ghul who is testing those involved with Bruce Wayne to be his ultimate warrior.[4]

Red Robin artist Ramon Bachs is leaving Red Robin to take on Azrael with Fabien Nicieza, in turn he is finishing "The Grail" and is giving Marcus To his debut in DC to draw the next four issue arc "Council of Spiders."[5][6]

It is unknown if Azrael will appear in Red Robin at this point, however Vickie Vale is set to appear in both series.

The Quest For Bruce Wayne

With Bruce Wayne’s apparent death, Tim Drake takes on the costumed identity of Red Robin. He is determined to find Bruce Wayne, who Tim is convinced is alive.

The Current arcs in his search include:

The Grail

The arc focuses on Tim Drake as Red Robin and how Tim took up the mantel of Red Robin (through flashbacks), and how he has isolated himself from his friends and family, in an effort to search for his supposedly dead mentor. As the story progresses it shows clues to the past such as a fossilized batarang found in issue three. Tim also reluctantly teams up with Ra's al Ghul and his League of Assassins. In the final issue Tim finds a cave drawing of a bat and is attacked by a member of the Council of Spiders, who nearly kills Tim.

Council of Spiders

The second arc focuses on Tim taking down a group similar to the League of Assasins (who he is allied with) called the Council of Spiders. Tim is confronted by Tam Fox and reveals his plan: Take down the Council of Spiders from the outside and the League of Assasins from the inside. Tim discovers that one of the Council of Spider's agents, the Wanderer is in Panama City.

Meanwhile in Gotham City, Vickie Vale asks Lucius Fox about the wherabouts of Bruce Wayne while Tim is in Budapest. "Bruce Wayne," appears and takes Vickie out to dinner (most likely Hush who has been posing as Bruce ever since Batman: Streets of Gotham 3). In Panama City the Wanderer is fighting while in Budapest Tim realises that a Council of Spiders member named Sac is about to attack Tam Fox.
