This company's customers are more likely to encounter a firestorm of bullets than a menacing cyclone. Ubisoft subsidiary Red Storm Entertainment develops entertainment software -- particularly action games -- for PCs, as well as for various Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony game systems. The company was launched in 1996 as a venture to translate author Tom Clancy's oeuvre into multimedia entertainment and games; Red Storm continues to have an exclusive agreement with Clancy to create games based on his books. Titles include "Rainbow Six", "Rogue Spear", and the popular "Ghost Recon" series of games. French game giant Ubisoft acquired Red Storm in 2000.
