Red yeast rice blocks the body's ability to make cholesterol. It is used by healthy adults to help lower blood cholesterol along with a healthy diet and regular exercise. How should I take this medicine?
Take this dietary supplement by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the package or given by your doctor. Take with food.What if I miss a dose?

What should I watch for while taking red yeast rice?
Visit your doctor for regular check ups. You may need to have regular tests to make sure your liver is working properly.Tell your doctor as soon as you can if you get any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also have flu-like symptoms such as fever and tiredness.
Talk to your doctor about your cholesterol. Follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly.
If you are going to have surgery, tell your doctor that you are taking this supplement.
What side effects may I notice from taking red yeast rice?
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible: dark yellow or brown urine
decreased urination, difficulty passing urine
fever
muscle pain, tenderness, cramps, or weakness
redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
skin rash, itching
unusual tiredness or weakness
yellowing of the skin or eyes
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
constipation
upset stomach, indigestion, gas
Where can I keep my medicine?
Keep out of the reach of children.Store in a cool, dry place away from high heat and bright light. Keep original container until use. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
