Redbridge

Redbridge, outer borough (1991 pop. 220,600) of Greater London, SE England. Primarily residential, Redbridge is also an important shopping and commercial center. Its industries include light engineering and the manufacture of electrical components, photographic materials, and chemicals. Much of Epping Forest lies within the borough, as do several university residence halls. Wanstead and Woodford were represented in Parliament by Winston Churchill from 1924 to 1964.


Greater London, borough named from an old bridge across the River Roding first recorded as Red Bridge in (1746).
