Bob Wilber, on alto and soprano, is accompanied by a rhythm section and strings on this pretty and melodic date. Wilber contributed the arrangements and three of the dozen ballads but few surprises occur. He mostly pays tribute to the style (but not the sound) of Johnny Hodges with improvisations that stick close to the melodies of such songs as "Deep Purple," "In The Wee Small Hours" and "Body And Soul." This Lp has been long out-of-print and works well as high-quality background music. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
