Regency Enterprises lords over a kingdom of Hollywood movies. The company's New Regency Production unit produces and distributes movies such as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Fight Club, and JFK. News Corp.'s Fox Entertainment owns 20% of Regency and distributes the company's movies worldwide. Fox also co-finances many of Regency's films. The company's Regency Television unit had produced TV shows such as Malcolm in the Middle and The Bernie Mac Show; however, the company had failed to find another hit after those two shows series ran their course, and in 2008 Regency closed the TV unit.

Industry Film and television production

Regency Enterprises is a Los Angeles-based film and television production company formed by Arnon Milchan and Joseph P. Grace. It was founded in 1982 as Embassy International Pictures, but the company name changed to avoid confusion with Norman Lear's Embassy Pictures (known from 1975-1982 as Avco Embassy Pictures). Its most successful film is Mr. & Mrs. Smith, released on June 10, 2005. The company's latest film was an animated film adaptation, based on a book by Roald Dahl and written, produced and directed by Wes Anderson, titled Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Its films were distributed by Warner Bros. until 1997, and by 20th Century Fox from 1998 to the present. As a result, The Fountain, WB's first film produced with Regency Enterprises since 1997, was distributed by that studio only in North America, French and Germany - Fox held international rights.

Its operating units include New Regency Productions (50%) and Regency Television (50%) (a joint venture between Regency Enterprises and Fox Television Studios).

Investments include:

  • BabyFirstTV (30%) - cable channel in US aimed at 0-3yr olds.
  • The Israeli Network (?%) - cable channel in US
  • Channel 10 (?%) - commercial television station in Israel.
