regeneration time
the time taken for a tissue or organ to regain its former size or weight following damage or removal. For example, if two-thirds of the liver of a rat is removed surgically the liver regains its former weight in about two weeks. The proliferation of cells can be measured by the use of [3H]thymidine to label the cells synthesizing DNA.
